Drew Rosenhaus says Bengals' Terrell Owens will be ready to play by week 1

On Tuesday, Drew Rosenhaus did what every good agent should do with each one of their clients: hype them up and create any positives out of negative story.
We learned on Sunday that Terrell Owens @terrellowens had recently undergone surgery for a torn ACL. Given the nature of the injury, many assumed he would probably miss the entire 2011 season. But Rosenhaus appeared on ESPN's SportsCenter today and gave his best effort to make those fears seem like bollocks. Rosenhaus said that Owens actually underwent the operation in early April and that the wideout should be ready to play before the season starts.
"He's many, many months into his recovery now," Rosenhaus said of Owens. "He's doing fantastic. ... He is a legendary healer. He comes back from injury faster than anybody I've ever seen."
Rosenhaus also denied all of the rumors that have recently cropped up saying that this knee injury could force the 37-year-old Owens to retire. He said that stuff is "nonsense."

Fantasy Analysis:

You may not like Rosenhaus, but the guy certainly earns his money. You can't blame him for sounding as if everything will be all sunshine and lollipops with Owens' knee come week one. But the fact remains that his words represent an extremely optimistic -- and frankly unrealistic -- recovery timetable.
Since Rosenhaus said Owens had his surgery in early April, let's give him the benefit of the doubt and assume T.O. went under the knife April 1. The first Sunday of the regular season is scheduled to be Sept. 11. That would give Owens a litle more than five months to get back to full strength. I have never seen any player recover that quickly from an ACL tear, no matter how clean the tear or how fit the specimen. If Owens is able to make Rosenhaus' confidence a reality, he is truly not from this planet.
In short, I am still staying far, far, far away from T.O. in fantasy drafts.
