Broncos' Eddie Royal 'ready to go' after hip surgery
Five months after undergoing hip surgery, Denver Broncos wide receiver Eddie Royal declared himself healthy on Thursday.
"I'm ready to go," Royal told the Denver Post after running routes with quarterback Brady Quinn. "I will not miss a day of practice. I can't wait to get out there and run through these plays and get back out there with the guys."
The Post also said fellow wideout Demaryius Thomas
will miss at least half of the upcoming season as a result of tearing his Achillies' tendon in February.
Royal caught 91 passes during his 2008 rookie season, but registered just 96 receptions in the two following years combined.
Fantasy Analysis:
When 59 catches and 627 yards are considered a "bounce-back season," you know that production may be scarce from a certain wideout. That is probably going to be the case with Royal this season. The Broncos will be looking to add a running back during free agency and, with head coach John Fox and QB Tim Tebow, will likely be a run-first, run-second offense in 2011. Royal's chances are even further limited by Jabar Gaffney and Eric Decker, who will be competing against him for the privilege start alongside Brandon Lloyd. Royal is a free-agent receiver in most fantasy leagues.
