Giants' Ahmad Bradshaw wants to be feature running back
In a Thursday radio interview, Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw talked about how he wants to remain in blue, but one thing he said may lessen the odds that Bradshaw stays in New York.
"With Brandon (Jacobs), they have him for two more years and they know what to expect from him," Bradshaw said. "But with me, I just want to be a featured back. I feel like I can carry the ball a ton of times a game, and I feel like I can put it on my shoulders."
Bradshaw also said on the Miami radio station that he was "very interested" in joining the Dolphins.
Fantasy Analysis:
No matter where he goes, it's unlikely that Bradshaw will get his wish. The Giants have Jacobs. Even if the Dolphins let go of Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams, Bradshaw would probably have to share a considerable amount of carries with rookie Daniel Thomas. Secondly, at 5-foot-9 and under 200 pounds, and given his recent history with injuries to both feet, there's no guarantee that Bradshaw can handle 300-plus carries per year. He got 276 last season; that's a good total for him, and I don't think many teams will give him the opportunity for more. All of this talk looks like a power play (we've been hearing those words a lot) from Bradshaw to milk the Giants for all they're worth.
