Saints' Marques Colston, Robert Meachem fully recovered
Marques Colston and Robert Meachem went under the knife during this offseason. Colston, as well as a clean-up procedure on his wrist, had microfracture surgery performed on his right knee. Meachem underwent an operation to alleviate the pain in his left ankle that bothered him for basically the entire season. But now, all signs are positive for the duo. Saints trainer Wyatt Harris recently told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that Colston and Meachem are 100 percent. Actually, Harris said Meachem looked to be "150 percent" and has been running the 40-yard dash in 4.25 seconds.
"Meachem is better than he was any year he's ever been there with the Saints," Harris said. "More explosive, faster, sudden speed. I am very excited about what y'all are about to see with Robert Meachem."
Fantasy Analysis:
It's pleasing to hear all of that praise for Meachem, and he's a nice mid-round pick in drafts. But this is really about Colston, who is a top-20 WR in fantasy right now. He's now coming back from the fifth knee surgery of his five-season career, including his second microfracture operation. He had a solid 2010 -- 84 catches, 1,023 yards, seven touchdowns -- and is still the Saints' clear-cut No. 1 receiver. But you just have to wonder when the effects from all of these injuries and all of these surgeries will start to drag down Colston's ability and production. Considering his yards-per-catch average dropped from 15-16 over the previous two seasons to 12.2 last year, it may have already begun.
