Ravens will release Willis McGahee
It won't be official until Thursday afternoon at the earliest, but according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Baltimore Ravens let Willis McGahee know on Monday that they will be releasing him. McGahee, who ran for 380 yards on 100 carries and scored six total touchdowns last season, could return to the team, but he would have to do so at a lesser rate. He is scheduled to make $6 million in 2011.
Fantasy Analysis:
This is good news for Ray Rice , who is already a top-5 running back in fantasy drafts. Maybe this means an uptick in goal-line carries? Le'Ron McClain
might move into the short-yardage role if McGahee moves on elsewhere, but it is no guarantee that Baltimore will bring back McClain, who is a free agent. As is the case with hundreds of other players, this situation will become clearer in the next 5-7 days. But for all intents and purposes, McGahee is out of Baltimore for the time being.
