Vincent Jackson expected to sign franchise tender
The San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting that Chargers star receiver Vincent Jackson is likely to sign his franchise tender offer this season, giving hime a one-year, $11.3 million contract. Last year Jackson held out for the first 11 games of the season in an attempt to receive a long-term contract. Considering that deal never came, it is therefore unlikely Jackson would refuse the one-year franchise tender this season.
Fantasy Analysis:
Jackson made all the wrong headlines in the past year but it's time for him to remind folks of what his value is as a Fantasy stud receiver. In each of his first three seasons, Jackson increased his number of receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. This all culminated in 2009 when he put together his finest year with 68 catches, 1,167 yards and nine TDs. As long as he is the Chargers WR1 on the depth chart, those numbers are a solid projection for what he can do in 2011. Jackson is one of the best deep-threats in the game because of his size and ability to go up and come down with the football.
