Bucs' Arrelious Benn medically cleared
We heard a few weeks ago that Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Arrelious Benn was ahead of schedule in his recovery from ACL surgery. So it should come to no surprise that Benn passed his physical when he showed up to team facilities today.
"[Trainers] were like, 'Wow!' For me to be blessed to have this recovery as fast as I did -- it was textbook surgery," Benn said. "I've never had a severe injury like this, but I came back pretty well.
"I'm still taking it slow. ... I cleared my physical, but I'm still taking it slow. There's no need for me to rush into [training camp]. I'm going to be limited for some things, but I'm feeling good."
Fantasy Analysis:
So, Benn will probably see spotty action in the preseason as the team plays it safe with his knee. But he should be able to go full speed when the Bucs open their season Sept. 11 versus the Detroit Lions. Benn's 2010 rookie season wasn't much, but he did have a 100-yard game that really showcased his skills a few weeks prior to tearing his ACL. He is expected to start alongside WR Mike Williams, and I think Benn is an interesting, late-round sleeper in this offense -- an offense that I can't love enough this year.
