Cowboys will cut Marion Barber

Another no-brainer cut will be made Thursday when possible: The Dallas Cowboys will cut running back Marion Barber @24marionbarber, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Barber, who was scheduled to make $4.75 million this season including a $500,000 roster bonus, is just 28 years old. But years of running with no regard for his body have wrecked him. In 2010, Barber saw his yards-per-carry average drop to a paltry 3.3. But really, Barber has been on the downhill slide since his 975-yard, 10-touchdown season of 2007. Obviously, Felix Jones @felixjones28 becomes the starter in Dallas backfield. Tashard Choice @tchoice23 and rookie DeMarco Murray @DeMarcoMurray will chip in as well.

Fantasy Analysis:

With the cuts of Barber, guard Leonard Davis, kicker Kris Brown and possibly offensive tackle Marc Colombo, the Cowboys are saving about $14 million. Barber was fun to watch when he was new to the league, but you knew this wasn't going to end well. We praise guys for running hard and showing maximum effort, but Barber took on so much punishment, his career is clearly over the hill before 29. He'll land as a backup elsewhere. Jones gets a bump up in fantasy rankings. Choice should be used much more often in 2011.
