Bengals owner Mike Brown says Carson Palmer 'has retired'

The Cincinnati Bengals are sticking to their guns. They will not give into Carson Palmer's demands -- get rid of me or I'll retire. The latest proof comes from Bengals owner Mike Brown, who had pretty much stayed out of the Palmer-retirement fray. Until today.
"I honesty like Carson Palmer," Brown told the Cincinnati Enquirer. "He was a splendid player for us. He is a good person. I wish him well and he has retired. That is his choice.
"I'm not expecting him to be back. Carson signed a contract, he made a commitment. He gave us his word. We relied on his word and his commitment. We expected him to perform here. If he is going to walk away from his commitment, we aren't going to reward him for doing it."
Head coach Marvin Lewis went on record with very similar comments earlier Tuesday.
Palmer, who is 31 years old and signed with the Bengals through the 2014 season, threw for nearly 4,000 yards and 26 touchdowns last season. But he also recorded 20 interceptions.

Fantasy Analysis:

This is pretty funny to me. The ball is now in Palmer's court and, well, there's not much he can do. The Bengals own him and are not giving any hints of moving him. Looks like Palmer will have to sit out this season.
Rookie Andy Dalton @andydalton14 looks to be the Bengals' week-one starter right now. But I have to think additions will be made to that group of QBs, which consists Dalton, restricted free agent Jordan Palmer and Dan LeFevour.
