Browns QB Jake Delhomme to be cut, still wants to play
Simply put: Jake Delhomme has been awful. In the past two seasons, he has thrown 25 interceptions and 10 touchdowns. Only Jimmy Clausen and Derek Anderson have had lower passer ratings of any QB who has thrown at least 200 passes since 2009. So it comes to no surprise that the Browns weren't going to pay Delhomme the $5.4 million he was owed in the second year of his contract. News broke Wednesday that he will be cut. Delhomme said he still wants to play in the NFL. The Browns will move forward with Colt McCoy as their likely starter. Seneca Wallace is the current backup.
Fantasy Analysis:
By the way, when coupled with the $12.7 million that the Panthers owed Delhomme for last season, realize that he made $19.7 million in 2010. In other words, about $10 million per touchdown. I know Delhomme wants to keep playing because he's a competitor. But who would want him after what he has shown in the past two seasons? Well, with a few teams just looking for warm bodies at the quarterback position, his journey might not be over just yet. However, the odds that I'll write another note about Delhomme when he signs are slim.
