On second thought ... QB Matt Leinart stays with Texans
This is more of a correction than news.
There was a time yesterday when Matt Leinart was going to become the newest Seattle Seahawks QB, following Tarvaris Jackson by just a few hours.
Well, it wasn't true. Everyone -- including myself -- jumped the gun. Leinart didn't go to Seattle. And now that he has indeed reached a contract agreement, we see that he's actually not going anywhere.
Leinart has re-signed with the Houston Texans. Or rather, he will have signed when such a move can be made official Friday. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, it's a two-year deal worth $5.5 million, including $3.75 million guaranteed.
Fantasy Analysis:
According to the Houston Chronicle's John McClain, Leinart told Texans head coach Gary Kubiak that he wanted to go find a team that would give him a chance to start. Big surprise: He didn't find one. So Leinart now settles back into Houston behind Matt Schaub and Dan Orlovsky on the Texans' QB depth chart. The team will also take rookie QB T.J. Yates to camp, so Leinart will have a lot of competition to be the No. 1 man to hold that clipboard.
Also, after writing about Jake Delhomme and Matt Leinart, I don't think I've ever written something on here with such little fantasy impact in back-to-back notes.
