Bears are shopping TE Greg Olsen
The news has gone back and forth on this one, but it has now been confirmed that the Chicago Bears have placed tight end Greg Olsen on the trading block. Olsen's agent Drew Rosenhaus sent out a mass email to every NFL team stating the the Bears gave him the green light to make a deal for the fifth-year tight end out of Miami. After a career-year in 2009, Olsen experienced a big drop in production under new offensive coordinator Mike Martz. Olsen is also seeking a new contract if he is traded.
Fantasy Analysis:
Since Olsen is seeking a new contract, the odds of the Bears finding a trade partner is unlikely. He only has one year left on his current deal. If Olsen stays in Chicago, his Fantasy value remains low because Martz simply doesn't utilize tight ends in his offense. Although Olsen is very talented and could really excel in a new situation, there are simply too many other great TEs to be excited about. Unless a big-name TE gets hurt and that teams makes a late push to acquire Olsen, fantasy owners should look elsewhere since he's a backup at best on your roster.
