Chargers' Antonio Gates says plantar fasciitis is still an 'issue'
Call it an overreaction, but it seems like Antonio Gates ' feet aren't 100 percent healthy just yet. The Chargers' tight end told San Diego Union-Tribune reporter Kevin Acee today that he feels good now and expects to have a great season. But he said that the plantar fasciitis that bothered him for much of last season is still "an issue." Gates said that no one will be able to tell once the season starts.
In 2010, Gates missed six of San Diego's final eight games because of, among other things, plantar fasciitis. But Gates produced had 663 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
Fantasy Analysis:
(sigh) I thought we were done with this. Earlier this month, Gates gave no hints that he was feeling anything wrong. Maybe it's not a big deal. We know that Gates has outstanding pain tolerance, but for him to admit that his feet are still bothering him somewhat gives me pause. He's still the No. 1 tight end in fantasy drafts. Just know that when he starts playing week in and week out, he'll probably come down with more injuries to his feet.
