Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert gets his rookie deal
The Jacksonville Jaguars locked up their quarterback of the future, Blaine Gabbert , to the tune of four years and $12 million on Thursday. All of that money is guaranteed, as has become the usual for rookie contracts this year. According to the Florida Times-Union, "Gabbert missed the morning practice, but walked out in uniform a few minutes after the Thursday evening practice began and drew cheers from the crowd watching ...."
Fantasy Analysis:
Gabbert will be given every opportunity to surpass veteran David Garrard on the depth chart, but the Jags should just let Garrard start the season and let Gabbert learn. Unlike someone such as Bruce Gradkowski in Cincinnati, Garrard has a track record of success. Jacksonville should go with the vet until 2012 when it will be Gabbert's time. I've already gone on record here at FFToolbox, stating that Gabbert will be the best quarterback of the four who were drafted in the first round this year.
