Dolphins think Reggie Bush can be early down RB

Much like holdouts, it's way too early to get all tied up in coach speak. But from Miami Dolphins' head coach Tony Sparano comes a doozy today. When asked by Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald if he thinks Reggie Bush @ReggieBush can be a featured running back, Sparano said, "I have a strong belief this guy can carry the ball on first and second down."

Fantasy Analysis:

Bush has said that he wants to be a featured running back and wants to do more running this season. But believing that someone can do a job and wanting to do a job is very different that what someone is capable of doing. Bush is an extremely versatile player whose presence on the field gives his team a great advantage because defenses always need to account for him. But by giving Reggie Bush more rushes and more playing time on early downs, the Dolphins are just heightening the chances of an injury-prone player getting hurt yet again. Bush is getting paid a lot of money, but he should be used in moderation. He is who he is, he's not going to be a workhorse in any way. Right now, I still consider Daniel Thomas to be the No. 1 running back in Miami and the guy I'd want -- by a wide margin -- in fantasy drafts.
