Falcons RB Michael Turner has recovered from groin surgery
There's not much detail to it, but here's some news that should intrigue all fantasy players: Atlanta Falcons running back Michael Turner underwent groin surgery during the offseason. According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Turner has recovered, and he isn't expected to be limited at the start of this season. Turner rushed for 1,371 yards last season, but averaged just 4.1 yards per carry. He scored 12 touchdowns.
Fantasy Analysis:
Turner is currently 15th in our running back rankings. I think that is definitely too low for him, but I am wary of drafting him in 2011. I owned Turner last year and watched every play in which he was involved. At many times, he looked slow and old, and the fact that he underwent groin surgery during the offseason obviously doesn't make him any more endearing. I won't take him in the first 12-15 picks of a draft. I think the wheels are very close to falling off. Also, the Falcons need to find a capable backup for Turner. Jason Snelling is a free agent, and they won't re-sign Jerious Norwood. "Satelitte" back Jacquizz Rodgers isn't a good fit as a direct backup.
