Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis will end holdout Monday

Whether they mention it or not, we've seen the $30,000-per-day penalty for holding out of training camp quickly disarm players making such a threat. It happened with Osi Umenyiora, it may happen with other players soon, and it's going to happen with Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis @MarcedesLewis89. Lewis, who is playing under the team's franchise tag and is scheduled to make $7.3 million in 2011, has voiced his displeasure of playing on a one-year contract. But after a few days out of Jaguars training camp, Lewis said he will report Monday. "Basically they still are negotiating, but I'm tired of not being with my team!," Lewis said in a text message to the Florida Times-Union. "And I need to be there ...." Lewis caught 58 passes for 700 yards and 10 touchdowns last year.

Fantasy Analysis:

Lewis isn't going to get you a ton of yards, but he's a gigantic end-zone target for David Garrard. He's a top-10 fantasy tight end, and now that he's in camp and seemingly willing to play under his current deal, maybe he'll be driven to produce even more and show that that he rightfully deserves a long-term commitment.
