Cardinals sign rookie RB Ryan Williams

The Arizona Cardinals finished all of their rookie signing Sunday by agreeing to terms with running back Ryan Williams @lilsweetness34. According to Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic, the deal is four years long and worth $5 million, including a $2.14 signing bonus. Williams was the 38th pick in the 2011 draft and, along with teammate Beanie Wells, is expected to provide the Cardinals with a 1-2 punch in the backfield this season.

Fantasy Analysis:

We're not really sure how the Cardinals will split the carries here, but head coach Ken Whisenhunt said today that Wells is the clear starter. However, I'm more of a Williams fan if I had to choose one or the other. He is a physical, determined runner who is also quick and a fair receiver. Yes, he has his injury worries, but so does Beanie Wells. We've been waiting for Wells to own Arizona's ground game for two years and while he has shown flashes of greatness, his young career has generally been about knee injuries, indecisive running and questions about conditioning. Now with Tim Hightower out of the picture, it comes down to Wells versus Williams, and I'd like wait a little longer in drafts to take the new blood rather than hold out hope that Wells can finally become the running back many thought he was going to be in 2009.
