Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders expected to miss 3 weeks
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders will have to wait a little while before he gets used to a bigger role in the team's offense. Sanders will be out of action for three weeks after undergoing a procedure on his left foot Monday. The foot was having problems healing after surgery about three months ago, and Sanders apparently aggravated it a day or two into training camp. Sanders told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that bone marrow was removed through his heel and then injected in his foot to speed the recovery. Foot issues are nothing new to Sanders; he broke his right foot during Super Bowl XVL.
Fantasy Analysis:
Hines Ward is expected to be activated off the training camp PUP list this week as he has recovered from thumb surgery. It has been basically assumed that the 35-year-old Ward, coming off of one of the least productive seasons of his career, would lose some snaps to the younger Sanders. But that's not going to happen if Sanders' feet keep betraying him. I viewed Sanders as a deep sleeper, but you might just want to let him be someone else's problem this year.
