QB Marc Bulger retires
Marc Bulger is a pretty popular name to land a backup job somewhere this season. Multiple teams are interested in him. Well, Bulger has made made a decision: He's not going to play in the NFL this year or ever again. The two-time Pro Bowler said Wednesday he is retiring. "I am grateful to all my former teammates, coaches and my family," Bulger told ESPN.com on Wednesday morning. "I have a special place in my heart for Coach (Mike) Martz for giving me an opportunity. "Moving forward, I'm excited to continue doing work through my foundation to help the men and women in uniform who risk their lives every day so we can enjoy the game of football." Bulger, who played for 11 seasons and spent 2010 on the Ravens' roster, took snaps at quarterback only as a St. Louis Ram. With Martz, he had three seasons of more than 3,800 passing yards and 20 touchdowns. However, too many hits behind a horrible offensive line likely shortened his career.
Fantasy Analysis:
Sixth-round rookie Tyrod Taylor seems to have the edge in becoming the Ravens' new backup QB.
Bulger's best fantasy season took place in 2006 when he threw for 4,301 yards, 24 touchdowns and just eight interceptions. But he took 124 sacks from 2006-08, which pretty much doomed his career. But for a short while, he was a solid fantasy QB. Happy trails, Marc.
