WR DeSean Jackson gets his much-desired long-term deal from Eagles
Since the beginning of last season, Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson
had let it be known repeatedly that he wasn't happy with his contract. He should be happy now. Surprisingly, the Eagles agreed to terms with Jackson on a five-year contract worth up to $51 million including $15 million guranteed Wednesday. Jackson's stats dipped in 2011 from his two previous campaigns, and he was suspended for one game after missing a team meeting leading up to what turned out to be the Eagles' Nov. 13 loss versus Arizona. Before this signing, Jackson had been scheduled to make $9.4 million this season under the franchise tag.
Fantasy Analysis:
Maybe Jackson will now just be quiet and play the game. He'll always be a high-risk, high-reward fantasy option because of his fantastic speed to go along with his lack of desire to go over the middle. He's not a complete receiver, and his on-field effort level has been questioned numerous times. The big contract doesn't change my thought that he's a WR2 at best.
