Chargers -- not Redskins -- sign WR Eddie Royal

It was reported a couple of days ago that the Washington Redskins had signed wide receiver Eddie Royal @EddieRoyalWR along with Pierre Garcon and Josh Morgan. While the latter two are indeed Redskins, something fell through with Royal. Instead, it has been confirmed that the fifth-year wideout from Virginia Tech has signed with the San Diego Chargers. Specifically, Royal signed a three-year contract worth $13.5 million on Thursday. The deal includes $6 million guaranteed.

Fantasy Analysis:

The Chargers have lost Vincent Jackson and made up for it for by signing Robert Meachem and now Royal. Not bad, although Royal may be used more as a kick returner than as a slot receiver. However, Philip Rivers' weapons with Meachem, Royal, Vincent Brown, Antonio Gates, and Malcom Floyd -- I don't know why I keep forgetting about him -- look much better than they did 48 hours ago. Royal's fantasy value will be very low to begin the 2012 season.
