QB Matt Flynn becomes a Seahawk for $26 million
Matt Flynn has started just one game in each of the past two seasons, but if everything goes as planned, he'll be the Seattle Seahawks' starter for week one this season. Flynn and the Seahawks reached an agreement Sunday on a three-year deal worth $26 million. The deal includes $10 million guaranteed. Flynn's market value shot through the roof with a historic week-17 performance when he threw for 480 yards and six touchdowns against the Detroit Lions.
Fantasy Analysis:
Fantasy-wise, it's tough to get too excited about this deal. Yes, Flynn has looked absolutely fantastic in his two career starts, and the Seahawks have some decent receivers for him to use. Plus, he should be able to beat out Tarvaris Jackson
in any sort of QB competition. But Flynn still has just 132 pass attempts on his NFL resume. He has yet to really prove himself, and I would assume that the Seahawks will remain a run-first offense with Marshawn Lynch. I think it's best to draft Flynn as a QB2, but as one who has some upside.
