Giants RB Ahmad Bradshaw says he's healthy, looking forward to more carries
The New York Giants released running back Brandon Jacobs almost two weeks ago, a move that teammate Ahmad Bradshaw
saw coming. Now with Jacobs most likely gone for good, Bradshaw told the New York Post on Tuesday that he's looking forward to a bigger workload in 2012. For that to happen, Bradshaw's oft-injured feet need to hold up. He missed four games last season because of a fractured right foot -- or rather, a re-fractured right foot. Bradshaw has dealt with fractures to both feet and ankles. While he didn't need surgery this offseason, he did undergo a stem cell injection procedure on his right foot.
"I picture my role to be just like [it was in 2010]," Bradshaw said. "I got the stem cell injection on my right foot that I refractured and it feels great. I feel like I can come out this next season and be ready for whatever they give me."
In 2010, Bradshaw gained more than 1,500 yards from scrimmage on 323 touches.
Fantasy Analysis:
But if history is any sort of teacher, I think the Giants would be crazy to give Bradshaw that heavy of a workload again. Sure, he feels great now, but it's just a matter of time before Bradshaw's foot issues crop up again. Expect the Giants to target a complementary running back in the draft. If he plays a full 16 games, I think Bradshaw can get about 260-270 touches and still be in the RB2 neighborhood. He scored 11 touchdowns in just 12 games last season.
