Vikings HC Leslie Frazier says RB Adrian Peterson 'on pace' to play week 1

Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier told Tom Pelissero of 1500ESPN.com on Tuesday that he's "optimistic" running back Adrian Peterson @AdrianPeterson will play in the first week of the regular season, and Peterson's rehab has him "on pace" to do just that. However, Frazier acknowledged that he is unsure how much he'll get, if anything, out of Peterson in training camp. Peterson is slightly less than six months removed from tearing his ACL, MCL, and suffering meniscus damage in a game last season.

Fantasy Analysis:

Keep in mind that Frazier said a couple of weeks ago there was a "very good chance" that Toby Gerhart will have to handle most of the carries early on in the season. All Frazier is saying here is that Peterson should be available to play; it says nothing about how much he will play Sept. 9 versus the Jaguars. His ADP -- currently at 23.36 at MockDraftCentral.com -- is still way too high for me to buy in considering the sizable risk attached to him.
