Texans' Arian Foster played through torn meniscus in 2010
There's been a lot of discussion about how Maurice Jones-Drew played all of last season with an injured knee. But he wasn't the only top-tier running back to do so. You can include the league's leading rusher to that list.
The Texans' Arian Foster recently told Sporting News that he played through the 2010 season with a torn meniscus. He said he didn't tell anyone because he didn't want to lose his starting job, which was certainly cemented after a 238-yard, three-touchdown effort against the Colts in week one.
Foster went on to say that the meniscus has been fixed, and, as Sporting News printed it, "he should be faster and more precise with his cuts."
In his first full season as an NFL starting running back, Foster gained 1,616 yards to go along with 16 rushing scores. He also had 66 receptions.

It's pretty amazing that Foster could accomplish so much with a bum knee. A torn meniscus isn't small potatoes for a running back who took as much of a pounding as Foster did. It might also cause the Texans to think about lessening his workload this season. I haven't heard anything of the sort yet, but I don't think we'll see a repeat of his 393 touches this season. Derrick Ward and Ben Tate
are his top replacements.
However, Foster remains Houston's workhorse and will get plenty of carries to keep his fantasy owners pleased. He is a top-three pick in all formats.
