Titans to sign Matt Hasselbeck to 3-year deal
The Tennessee Titans needed to bring in a veteran QB, and they have found it in Matt Hasselbeck . Hasselbeck, who will turn 36 in September, reportedly agreed to a three-year deal with the Titans on Wednesday. He is expected to come in and be both player and teacher. Rookie Jake Locker is the franchise's future, but he isn't ready yet.
Getting a veteran QB became a must for Tennessee, especially after Kerry Collins retired earlier this month. Rusty Smith and Brett Ratliff are the other quarterbacks on the roster.
Fantasy Analysis:
Look, we all know Hasselbeck isn't going to be any sort of savior. As I said yesterday in notes about the potential of this move, Hasselbeck has been nothing more than very average for the past three years. He has thrown 10 more interceptions than touchdowns during that span. He's not going to be a fantasy option. But I trust the tested veteran more than Jake Locker to run this offense and get the ball to Kenny Britt , Jared Cook
, etc. It's no secret that Locker's accuracy needs work, so I'm glad the Titans are likely to let him sit for a while.
Britt remains a WR2 in my mind, and Chris Johnson
is still among the first picks in drafts. Although, yes, we're still watching to see if he will hold out for a long-term contract.
