DeAngelo Williams re-signs with Panthers

The Denver Broncos took their shot at him, but running back DeAngelo Williams @DeAngeloRB is staying in Carolina. The Panthers and Williams agreed to a five-year deal worth $43 million, including $21 million guaranteed. Williams had stated in previous reports that he was interested in retiring with the Panthers but rumors lingered about former Panthers coach John Fox, now with the Broncos, being interested in signing him. Williams re-joins with RB Jonathan Stewart @Jonathanstewar1 to form one of the league's best tandem backfields.

Fantasy Analysis:

For Fantasy owners, this doesn't work out as many had hoped. Williams is returning to an inept offense, at least it was last season. Stewart was set to be the featured back but now has limited value at best. If there is one winner, it is Denver's RB Knowshon Moreno @knowshonmoreno who, for the time being, remains the featured back. The 2008 season was the last time both backs were healthy for a full season. In that year, there was a 60/40 split in the carries with Williams taking the majority.
