Cardinals trade for, sign QB Kevin Kolb
The most talked about trade this week has finally come to fruition. According to FOX Sports' Adam Caplan, the Philadelphia Eagles have traded quarterback Kevin Kolb to the Arizona Cardinals. The Eagles received what many have been expecting for months now: cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a 2012 second-round pick.
The Cardinals have also signed Kolb to a max contract. It's a five-year deal worth about $63 million with more than $20 million guaranteed.
Fantasy Analysis:
OK, Arizona; let's see what you've got.
Larry Fitzgerald has his quarterback and should be a top-5 fantasy receiver. At mockdraftcentral.com, his current ADP 28.95, and he is the ninth WR off the board. That should improve in the coming weeks.
I think Kolb is a top-12 QB. Obviously Fitzgerald cures a lot of ails. But young wideout Andre Roberts
has potential, and the Cardinals might add another established wide receiver. Full disclosure: I am a Kolb apologist.
This move doesn't really affect the Eagles much. They will now look to pick up a backup QB.
