RB Darren Sproles headed to Saints

The Miami Dolphins were once interested in adding Darren Sproles @DarrenSproles to be the complementary back to Daniel Thomas. Then they traded for Reggie Bush this morning. So what do the Saints do to replace Bush? Grab Darren Sproles, of course! According to FOX Sports' Alex Marvez, the Saints have signed Sproles to a four-year contract. NFL Network's Jason La Canfora is reporting that the deal is worth $14 million with $6 million guaranteed. Sproles, who spent his first six NFL seasons with the San Diego Chargers, caught a career-high 59 passes for 520 yards last year. Sproles also averaged 5.3 yards on 50 rushing attempts.

Fantasy Analysis:

Sproles may not be quite as popular among the mainstream as Bush, but they have a lot of the same traits. Sproles is a quick multi-purpose back who can run, catch and return kicks. With 104 catches in the past two years, Sproles might actually be a better receiver, and that's how I think you'll see him used most in New Orleans. It'll be interesting to see how he fits in with Mark Ingram @MarkIngram22 and Pierre Thomas @Pierre_Thomas, but their fantasy values do take a hit just for the simple fact that there will be a third player in the backfield once again. Chris Ivory @ivory33's fantasy value seems to be sitting at zero.
