Cowboys' rookie RB DeMarco Murray injured
Former University of Oklahoma running back DeMarco Murray has suffered a hamstring injury that will keep him out roughly two weeks. The rookie back was selected in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Murray has struggled with the misconception that he is injury-prone despite only missing five games in his four-year career with the Sooners. This is a serious setback considering the limited timeframe for rookies to become acclimated to the NFL.
Fantasy Analysis:
Murray's early season fantasy value has to take a serious hit. Felix Jones is the clear-cut starter in Dallas but considering the Cowboys used a third-round pick on Murray, he was definitely going to get his shot to play. Hamstring injuries can often linger as well. For a speed back like Murray, fantasy owners are just going to have to hope he can fully recover since any leg injuries are a big deal. But it's important to remember, speed at the running back position means boom-or-bust potential. For the long-term, Jones hasn't done much and remains an injury concern. Murray is a back you can likely draft late. Take a chance on him because he is a legitimate sleeper.
