Bears expected to sign WR Roy Williams
The Chicago Sun Times reported late Thursday night that the Chicago Bears will likely sign free agent wide receiver Roy Williams. He had been released by the Dallas Cowboys earlier in the week. For what it's worth, Williams enjoyed his best season in 2006 with offensive coordinator Mike Martz on the Detroit Lions. That year Williams had 82 receptions, 1,130 yards and seven TDs.
Fantasy Analysis:
Expecting Williams to come close to his 2006 numbers is a stretch but it isn't as though anyone else with the Bears has put up a big year. If he can crack the starting lineup, he'll certainly get a ton of opportunities. A fresh start in an offense he's already familiar with is a solid fantasy situation. All this said, he's still only worth a late-round flier at best and fantasy owners shouldn't reach for him unless he's named the Bears' WR1, which is very unlikely.
