On second thought ... Saints RB Pierre Thomas not quite healthy
We learned yesterday that New Orleans Saints running back Chris Ivory needs more time to get back to 100 percent after foot surgery, but Pierre Thomas
passed his physical. I proclaimed him "healthy." He was a full participant in the team's first training camp practice Friday and reporters say he looked sharp. But that doesn't mean he is 100 percent.
Thomas told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that he is "85 percent" recovered from January ankle surgery. While Thomas said that he felt good on the field and was able to cut and run at full speed, he also said he needs to improve the strength in the repaired left ankle and that he was rusty.
Fantasy Analysis:
Not a huge deal right now, about six weeks from the Saints' first regular-season game. But the ankle is something to take into account before you spend a draft pick or some auction money on Thomas. Saints training camp should be a very interesting watch next month as we try to figure out how the team will use Thomas, Mark Ingram and Darren Sproles
in the same backfield.
