Saints sign rookie RB Mark Ingram
The New Orleans Saints agreed to terms with rookie running back Mark Ingram on Saturday. He was the 28th pick of the first round in this year's draft. The 2009 Heisman Trophy winner signed a four-year deal, but only the first three years are guaranteed. Financial figures are unknown as of now. He is expected to be a big contributor in the Saints' backfield, which currently consists of Pierre Thomas
, Darren Sproles
, Chris Ivory
and himself this season.
Fantasy Analysis:
I can't really pass judgement on Ingram as a fantasy running back yet. I've seen multiple sites talk about how the acquisition of Darren Sproles crushes Pierre Thomas' value; I don't know, and I don't think anyone can say anything for certain here. We won't know until we see how Sean Payton uses these guys in camp. With that being said, Ingram is the guy I want the most out of this backfield. Thomas' ankle injuries scare me a little and Sproles is a third-down back.
