Tarvaris Jackson is Seahawks' starting quarterback

Sorry, Charlie. You're not going to get an immediate chance to be the Seattle Seahawks' starting quarterback. According to head coach Pete Carroll on Saturday, the Seahawks have already been decided that Tarvaris Jackson @7tjackson will be the starter in week one versus the San Francisco 49ers. "This entire program has always been about competition," Carroll said to the Tacoma News Tribune. "It's the central theme in this program. In this situation, I think to make it the most competitive for our team, Tarvaris needs to be our starter right now. He comes in as a starter. He's going to own that position until Charlie and the next couple fellas that are playing that spot get a chance to catch up."

Fantasy Analysis:

Jackson gets an edge since he already knows offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell's scheme; he studied it while Bevell was the Vikings' OC when Jackson was a QB there. With the same QB, OC and wide receiver in Sidney Rice @sidneyrice, the chemistry could work wonders. But everyone should be very skeptical. Jackson has never been an extremely accurate or consistent passing QB. I don't expect anything to change in Seattle. I wouldn't draft him in fantasy, and players such as Rice and Mike Williams @BigMikeWill17 get a downgrade. I wouldn't be surprised if Charlie Whitehurst starts a few games before this season is over. Not as if that would be so much better.
