Marion Barber becomes part of Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte threatened to hold out this week, but Saturday's signing of Marion Barber doesn't seem to be a reaction to that; it seems to be bad news for Chester Taylor. The former Cowboy was signed by the Bears to the tune of $5 million over two years. He joins recently added Cowboys such as wide receivers Roy Williams and Sam Hurd. Barber spent his first six seasons in the NFL with Dallas. He rushed for just 374 yards on 113 carries last season.
Fantasy Analysis:
This is clearly a threat to Taylor's playing time since he is supposed to be the Bears' goal-line back. While Barber's body has been significantly worn down due to all of the punishment he has openly taken during the past few seasons, he is still pretty good at breaking the plane. Despite a down year in 2010, Barber has averaged more than seven touchdowns per season in his NFL career. He might steal some of those valuable carries away from Taylor and Forte, but that's pretty much all he has left. This move knocks Taylor's fantasy value down a peg. I don't think Forte is affected too much as he will still get plenty of carries in between the 10s.
