WR James Jones, RB John Kuhn back with Packers
The Green Bay Packers re-signed two important but underrated players in their offense Sunday. Wide receiver James Jones and running back John Kuhn both signed three-year contracts with the Super Bowl winner. Financial figures have not yet been disclosed, but Kuhn's agent, Kevin Gold, said his client's deal will make him "one of the top (paid) fullbacks in the league."
In 16 games -- three starts -- last season, Jones recorded 679 yards and five touchdowns on 50 receptions. Kuhn, who saw more touches because of injuries to the Packers' running backs, scored six touchdowns. He is expected to mostly be a road grader for Ryan Grant .
Fantasy Analysis:
Both players have Aaron Rodgers to thank since he's been lobbying for the team to re-sign both of them. What Rodgers wants, Rodgers gets. Kuhn doesn't have a lot of fantasy value; his re-signing is good news for Grant and James Starks if nothing else.
Jones was expected to leave Green Bay, but now that he has returned, you can shelve most of that talk about Jordy Nelson
having a breakout season in 2011. The Packers will continue to mix and match wide receivers on the field with Greg Jennings being the only constant. Anyone in that group outside of Jennings is a WR3 at the most in fantasy. But all of those familiar weapons means good things for Rodgers.
