Randy Moss' agent says his client has decided to retire
Randy Moss has retired. His agent, Joel Segal, said a few weeks ago that Moss was "motivated" and "determined," and any team that took a shot on Moss would be getting the Moss of old. Apparently, no teams to Moss' liking took that shot. So he has decided to hang 'em up after 13 seasons. He retires with 954 receptions, 14,858 receiving yards and 153 receiving touchdowns. Those numbers respectively rank eighth, fifth and second all-time.
Fantasy Analysis:
The Moss of 2010 was merely a shell of the Randy Moss who dominated for the better part of a decade. He entered the league as the game-breaking wideout with a ton of baggage. The Vikings took a chance on him, and Moss made the 20 teams who passed up on him in the 1998 draft pay as he turned in one of the greatest NFL rookie seasons ever. He finished eight seasons with at least 1,200 yards and nine seasons with double-digit touchdowns. His best fantasy season among a bunch of great fantasy seasons came in 2007 when he broke the single-season record for receiving touchdowns with 23. Yeah, Moss was a moody, immature player who played when he wanted to play and was known to quit on teams if he just wasn't feeling it. But at his peak, there was no better wideout in the game, and there may have been nobody better at running the deep route in the history of the game. I hope he stays retires because he had clearly lost his remarkable speed last season. But forget about that season; for many years before that, Randy Moss was a truly special, one-of-a-kind talent.
