Broncos pick up TEs Daniel Fells, Dante Rosario
Not since 35-year-old Shannon Sharpe in 2003 have the Denver Broncos had a tight end who caught at least 50 passes in a single season. Jeb Putzier was good for a hot minute. Tony Scheffler had some decent seasons, but still no one at that position has crossed the 50-reception threshold in Denver since the Hall of Famer. In an effort to change that, the team signed a pair of tight ends Sunday, Dante Rosario and Daniel Fells. Both were inked to one-year deals and will battle Dan Gronkowski and a couple of rookies for playing time. Rosario, a former Panther, caught 32 passes for 264 yards in 2010. Fells, a former Ram, caught 41 passes for 391 yards in 2010. But according to the Denver Post, Rosario will play more of a pass-catching role while Fells will see more time as a blocker.
Fantasy Analysis:
A couple of minimal weapons for Kyle Orton or Tim Tebow or whoever starts at quarterback for the Broncos. They have no fantasy value right now, but maybe someone will break through during the 2011 season.
