TE Zach Miller signs with Seahawks
After a couple of days of meetings and conflicting reports, we finally have a winner in the Zach Miller sweepstakes. The 25-year-old tight end has signed a long-term deal with the Seattle Seahawks. It was first reported by ESPN's John Clayton. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the contract is worth $34 million over five seasons including $17 million guaranteed. Last season, Miller won the Raiders' receiving triple crown; he led the team in catches (60), receiving yards (685) and receiving touchdowns (five). He led the team in catches and receiving yards in each of the past three seasons.
Fantasy Analysis:
What a huge weapon for Tarvaris Jackson . I have been very harsh on his fantasy prospects since the Seahawks signed him and named him their starting QB. I feel like Sidney Rice's value will fall off a cliff, and Mike Williams will be negatively affected as well. You probably think this move also hurts Miller's value, but I don't think so. Miller is a very good athlete and a tight end who has produced good yardage with the likes of Jason Campbell, Bruce Gradkowski and the immortal JaMarcus Russell throwing him the ball. There's no reason he can't do the same with Jackson. Touchdowns might be few and far between, but that's always been part of the deal with Miller. He's a solid target who can get you top-10 numbers at that position.
