Jets OC Brian Schottenheimer resigns; Tony Sparano is expected replacement

New York Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum said last week that he expected the team's entire coaching staff to return for the 2012 season. So, about that ...
On the same day that wide receivers coach Henry Ellard was let go and offensive line coach Bill Callahan jumped ship to Dallas, offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer resigned.
"After much thought and consideration, I have decided not to return to the New York Jets in 2012," Schottenheimer said in a statement Tuesday. "I am very proud of what we have accomplished in the six years I have been here."
Multiple sources have told ESPN's Chris Mortensen the Jets are expected to announce Wednesday that former Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano is Schottenheimer's successor.

Fantasy Analysis:

Schottenheimer may have officially resigned, but he wasn't coming back one way or another. This was just the friendlier way for him to exit. Sparano's job will entail strengthening the Jets' ground game, getting Santonio Holmes @ToneTime10 focused for a full season and, most importantly, helping Mark Sanchez @Mark_Sanchez look like an at least capable NFL quarterback -- something he didn't appear to be in the final three games of the 2011 season as the Jets failed to make the playoffs.
