Lions RB Mikel Leshoure has been arrested twice in past 6 weeks
Detroit Lions running back Mikel Leshoure
missed the entirety of his 2011 rookie season because of a torn Achilles tendon. He may be forced to miss some time in 2012 as well because of some illicit off-field activity. Leshoure has been arrested twice in the past six weeks -- first on Feb. 18, then on March 12 -- because of possession of marijuana. He will be arraigned on the second arrest Wednesday.
On March 12, an officer observed Leshoure "chewing marijuana" and "saw small pieces of marijuana down the front of his shirt" while he was the passenger in a pulled-over car, according to the police report. Leshoure complied when ordered by the officer to spit out the marijuana.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Leshoure appeared in court March 1 regarding the first arrest and paid a $485 fine after he pleaded to a lesser charge of "using" marijuana.
Fantasy Analysis:
The first arrest is one thing, especially for a first-timer in the NFL. But two stoppages in such a short span of time is on par with begging for a suspension. The Lions re-signed running back Kevin Smith
last week, so he would definitely see more touches while Leshoure is out. Jahvid Best
may benefit, too, but he still has to make it through the offseason without suffering any more post-concussion symptoms.
