The savings continue as Cowboys will release Roy Williams
The Dallas Cowboys have no problem playing it big on the open market. But with how they've gone about business today, it's clear they will be shooting for the moon in free agency. An active and fiscally smart day for the Cowboys just got another jolt, according to Calvin Watkins of ESPN Dallas. The Cowboys will cut wide receiver Roy Williams. Williams is signed through 2013 and was scheduled to make more than $5 million in base salary this season. He has also been an infamous bust with the Cowboys. The Cowboys traded three picks, including a first-rounder, for Williams in October 2008. A few days later, the parties agreed on a six-year, $54 million deal with about $20 million guaranteed. In 40 games spanning three seasons in Dallas, Williams caught a total of 94 passes for 1,324 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Fantasy Analysis:
Dez Bryant is the clear winner here. He is a definite starter now, and you've got to have high expectations for him with Tony Romo slinging it. He's a clear WR2 in fantasy with unbelievable upside.
Williams will play somewhere else. I don't care. I don't want any part of him.
Meanwhile, with all of this money, you have to think the Cowboys will be going hard after Nnamdi Asomugha.
