Vikings RB Adrian Peterson may have torn ACL
Pending further testing by the Minnesota Vikings medical staff, it is believed that running back Adrian Peterson
has a torn ACL in his left knee and there could be potential structural damage. Two sources told Yahoo! Sports' Jason Cole that Minnesota's team doctors sounded very concerned when checking Peterson's knee while on the field. A torn ACL may require surgery and Peterson would be rehabilitating for roughly six months afterward.
Fantasy Analysis:
This is devastating news for the Minnesota Vikings and anyone with an interest in the NFL. Peterson is undoubtedly one of the best players in the game and although Minnesota has long since been eliminated from playoff contention, this news is going to reverberate across the sport. This affects fantasy teams and could potentially factor into the Vikings' 2012 NFL Draft preparation. Peterson certainly will not play next week and will be replaced by Toby Gerhart.
