Bears put QB Jay Cutler, RB Matt Forte on injured reserve
The Chicago Bears have nothing to play for this week. There's no need for them to risk injury or re-injury to any of their stars, so they won't in two specific cases. The team placed quarterback Jay Cutler
and running back Matt Forte
on injured reserve Tuesday. Cutler has been throwing the ball and was scheduled to have the pins removed from his surgically repaired right thumb Tuesday, but the Bears have lost every game since he sustained the injury on Nov. 20. His season ends with 2,319 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Forte, who is about to become a free agent, was one of the most productive running backs in fantasy this season as he accumulated 1,487 yards from scrimmage in just 12 games. He scored four touchdowns.
Fantasy Analysis:
Forte will likely be handed the franchise tag, although he certainly won't be happy about it. For week 17, Josh McCown and Kahlil Bell
will fill in for Cutler and Forte, respectively. After a nice game against the Packers on Sunday night, Bell should an RB2 against the Minnesota Vikings. But we'll need to check on Marion Barber
's availability and presumed role first.
